Remus caught her scent in the air before he heard her following him. He thought about telling her to go back to Grimmauld Place, but he didn’t have the strength. Today was always a hard day, no matter what the moon phase was. He kept walking until he reached the familiar headstone. Part of him couldn’t believe that it had already been 14 years. The other part felt like it had been so much longer.
He didn’t know why he came again this year. Last year, he had yelled and screamed until he was hoarse. His voice was completely gone the next day, but he hadn’t felt any better. No matter how many lies had been told in the lead up to that horrible day, the outcome would never change. He would always be alone.
He knelt by the headstone and began clearing away the dead leaves that had gathered during the previous year. Normally this manual labor helped to clear his head, but this year all he could focus on was her scent. It was bright and fruity, unmistakenly her’s. Everything about her felt dangerous. But not in the way he had felt every day for the last 14 years. No, this danger reminded him of how he felt when he was in school. Back then he thought that maybe he could have a future. He knew better now.
“Isn’t it weird knowing that that grave is empty?” she asked when she caught up to him.
“It’s always been empty,” he responded without looking up. “All they ever found was his finger.”
Tonks knelt down beside him, helping him clean the area around the headstone. “You know what I mean. He betrayed everyone. Sirius spent more than a decade in Azkaban and Harry grew up alone because of Pettigrew’s actions. I would think you would go to Godric’s Hollow instead.”
“Too many people, especially today.”
“I can see that. Got to be annoying listening to all of their tears and hand-wringing too. Especially since they didn’t even know James and Lily.” She was quiet for a moment before asking, “how often do you come here?”
He thought about ignoring her, but he knew that wouldn’t stop her. “Once a year, since the funeral.”
She knelt quietly beside him after that, not saying another word until he stood up to leave. Then she grabbed his hand before he could walk away.
“I lost one of my gloves,” she said as he looked down at their joined hands. “Really, you’re doing me a favor by making sure my hand doesn’t freeze.”
He almost smiled when he saw the mischievous look in her eyes as they walked away hand in hand.
Ginny stands in front of the gift wrapping supplies with a diary in her hand. It is violently pink and covered in unicorns and glitter. She even bought it at the same muggle store where she always buys gifts for her dad. So why can’t she bring herself to wrap it?
“Do you need any help?” Harry asks as he enters the room, quickly closing the door behind him. He walks over to Ginny, taking the diary from her hand. Pulling out his wand, he points it at the diary. She knows that he is saying the spells out loud for her benefit.
When he’s done, he hands the diary back to Ginny. She kisses him on the cheek and starts wrapping the diary.

He goes up the walk and knocks on the door. He knows he might not be welcome. Andromeda opens the door and immediately slams it in his face. He isn’t sure what to do next. Should he leave? Should he wait to see if Dora will talk to him? He is about to knock again when the door opens. Dora looks him up and down before stepping outside. She starts walking away from the house without saying a word. He follows her to the end of the walk. Suddenly she turns around to face him.
“You can’t keep doing this Remus! You always run away as soon as things get a little bit too real. That was bad enough when it was just the two of us, but it’s not just the two of us anymore.” She puts her hand on her abdomen. “We need you to be here! If you can’t handle that, then here is your out. But if you want to stay, if you want to be part of your child’s life, then you can’t leave again.”
He bends down to kiss her, but she steps back before their lips can touch. “No, not until you decide! What do you want Remus?”
“I never thought I would have anything like this. I know that I don’t deserve it. I don’t deserve you. But I do know that I love you. I just don’t want to hurt you.”
“What do you think happens every time you run away? Don’t you think that hurts me? Because it does. It hurts so much more than any perceived issue that you make up as an excuse to leave. I won’t let you hurt our child that way.”
“I want to be here for you and the baby,” he says as he holds his hand above her abdomen without touching her. “I want to stay.”
“I’m not getting on that train, and I’m not going back to that school!”
“Yes you are, Albus,” Harry said as he started putting clothes in his son’s trunk.
“The only way I’m getting on that train is if you drag me on there kicking and screaming.”
Harry laughed. “There is no way you would behave like that in public.”
“Try me. When I’m not at school, I’m here or at the Burrow. That makes it pretty easy to avoid the press. You’re the one who’ll have to deal with whatever headlines they come up with.”
Shaking his head, Harry said, “Albus, stop being so unreasonable and pack your trunk,” as he walked out of the room. Albus slammed the door as soon as he crossed the threshold.
“So that went well,” Ginny said as Harry sat down at the kitchen table.
“I just don’t understand why he is acting this way.”
“It might have something to do with the fact that he is just like you.”
Harry couldn’t hide the shock on his face as Ginny handed him a cup of tea. “I would never have behaved this way. I always looked forward to going back to Hogwarts, even when Riddle was trying to kill me.”
“True, but you would have done the same thing if you thought it would mean you didn’t have to go back to the Dursleys.”
“That was completely different!”
“Yes and no. Don’t worry, I’ll go talk to him in a bit. He just needs a little time to calm down.”
“Mr. Weasley, I have a new warrant for you to review.”
“Thank you, Mr. Montague. Please put it in my inbox, and I’ll review it.”
“Mr. Weasley, this is an extremely important warrant that must be reviewed immediately, per Mr. Yaxley.”
“Of course,” Percy said as he finally looked up at the man standing in front of his desk. Picking up the warrant, he noticed that something was wrong right away. “Mr. Montague, there are only two copies of the warrant here. As I’m sure you know, every warrant must be submitted in triplicate.” Percy calmly handed the warrant back to Mr. Montague.
“Mr. Weasley, this is a very time sensitive manner. I’m sure we can let this slide.”
Percy was shocked and didn’t take the warrant that Mr. Montague was trying to hand back to him. “Mr. Montague, it is extremely important that we follow the rules and regulations of the Ministry. Without these rules, we are no better than the rebels that are trying to overthrow this government.”
“Fine,” Mr. Montague said as he pulled out his wand and pointed it at the warrant.
“Surely you are not planning to use Geminio on a legal document!”
“Mr. Weasley, this warrant must be executed immediately.”
“Then, perhaps you should have made sure to fill it out correctly in triplicate before you brought it to my office.”
Mr. Montague stormed off muttering to himself. Percy waited for 5 minutes before he let himself take a sigh of relief. Hopefully, he could continue to use bureaucracy to protect people.
Day 6 of @hinnymicrofic - Bold
Ginny was focused as she walked onto the pitch with the rest of the team. It was the final game of the year. The last game she would ever play at Hogwarts. But Ginny was ready and she knew her team was too. They all knew how much they needed to win by to ensure they won the House Cup.
The air in the stadium was electric as they took to the air. Everyone was cheering, but there was one voice that stood out. Ginny scanned the stands until she saw those familiar green eyes. She hadn’t expected him to come, but she was so glad he was there.
The game went perfectly. Ginny didn’t think she had ever scored so many goals in a single game. The House Cup was going to Gryffindor for sure. Her teammates were landing so they could start celebrating, but Ginny had other ideas. She turned her broom toward the stands and flew forward at top speed. Everyone around him ducked, but Harry didn’t even flinch. Ginny leaned forward and kissed him like her life depended on it.
Day 5 of @hinnymicrofic - Anticipation
Harry looked at the battered watch on his wrist for the fifth time in as many minutes. “Ron, can you check to see if the girls are ready?”
“Sure. George, go check on the girls.”
“Why don’t you do it, Ron?” George asked as he straightened the tie on his dress robes.
“Because I’m the best man, and it’s my job to deligate.”
“I’ll do it,” Neville said as he headed for the door.
What’s wrong Harry? Are you getting cold feet?“ George asked with a mischievous glint in his eye.
"If your feet are cold, you should put on another pair of socks, ” Teddy said as he looked up from his drawing.
“Thanks for the advice, Ted, ” Harry said, “but I don’t have cold feet. I’m just excited and nervous”
Harry started to pace, but Ron put a hand on his shoulder “Don’t worry mate. I’m sure Ginny won’t leave you at the altar.”
“I hadn’t thought she would until you said that,” Harry said as he turned toward Ron.
Suddenly the door opened and Neville stepped in “Harry, they’re ready for us.”
Day 4 of @hinnymicrofic - Family
Harry closes the case file on his desk. The case has been horrible, but it’s finally closed. He looks at his watch and realizes that he needs to leave now if he wants to get to the Burrow in time for lunch. He apparates as close to the Burrow as he can. As he walks toward the house, he notices that everyone is outside enjoying the beautiful spring weather.
Teddy runs full speed at Harry as soon as he sees him. “Look what I can do!” Teddy exclaims. The young boy then opens his mouth and wiggles one of his front teeth.
“Wow Ted! That tooth is really loose. It’s definitely going to fall out soon.”
“Yup! Uncle George said he could pull it out, but that seems like cheating. Guess what else Harry.”
“What Ted? ” Harry asks as he smiles at the boy.
“The baby kicked me earlier.”
Before Harry can say anything, Teddy runs off to show Victoire his loose tooth. Harry chuckles as he walks closer to the house where Ginny is sitting in the shade with her feet propped up. He leans down to kiss her and then kisses her bump.
“I hear you’ve been kicking people. That’s not a nice thing to do,” he says to the baby growing inside his wife.
“I’ve been telling him that for months, but he won’t listen to me,” Ginny says as she tries to scoot over to make room for Harry.
Harry snuggles close to Ginny and he watches the Weasleys as they start setting out lunch. Even now, after all this time, it’s hard to believe that he is part of this amazing family.
Day 3 of @hinnymicrofic - Ride
Harry paced back and forth across the living room. “I can’t believe she took the motorbike out for a joyride!”
“I can’t believe it still had any petrol in it. I mean, when was the time we took it out for a ride?” Ginny asked as she worked on the blanket she was knitting.
“How can you be so calm about this, Gin? Lily is only 16 years old! She has no business being out at this time of night.”
“Harry, do you remember what we were doing when we were 16?”
Harry blanched at the thought. “It was a different time.” He looked at the battered watch on his wrist, then up at the door as if he could will his daughter to walk through it.
“She’ll probably sneak back in through her bedroom window.”
“Then why aren’t we waiting for her up there?” Harry asked as he headed toward the stairs.
“Because it’s more comfortable down here. Besides, there is a portable swamp under her window. She activated it when she stepped on the roof outside her window.”
Harry turned to look at his wife. She never ceased to astonish him. “When did you set that up?”
“There is one in all of the kids’ rooms. I set them up sometime when Teddy was a teenager. Definitely before James went to Hogwarts.”
They looked at the ceiling when they heard a shriek from upstairs.
“Lily’s home.”
Day 2 of @hinnymicrofic - St. Mungos
Ginny could not sit still. She wanted to pace, but she didn’t want everyone to stare at her again. The clock in the waiting room ticked loudly, even though its hands never seemed to move. “Why are these chairs so uncomfortable,” she thought as she fidgeted.
The St. Mungos waiting room was full of Weasleys. Ginny felt like they were all watching her to make sure she was ok. Her mother’s knitting needles clicked at an irregular tempo since she paused everytime the door moved, and sometimes when it didn’t.
Ginny refused to look at the door. “He is going to be ok,” she repeated over and over again in her head. If she thought it enough, maybe she could make herself believe it.
Finally, the door swung open as the healer entered the waiting room. Ginny jumped up to greet him. She breathed a sigh of relief as he told her that Harry would be fine.
